Two Months
Dear Ava,
Today you are two months old. Time has flown by at lighting fast speed and I can’t believe how quickly you’ve grown these past few weeks. It’s been a wonderful challenge getting to this point, but through our fun learning experiences it seems like we’ve finally hit our stride and found somewhat of a routine.
What seemed like an eternity of sleepness nights have now slowly eased into 2 predictable wakings that your dad and I can finally handle - once at 2am and again at 5am! You usually go right back to sleep and wake up for the day around 8am, which is also one of my favorite time of day that I really look forward to. You've begun to coo and smile, and you'll even laugh when I play with your precious little feet to the hummings of La Cucaracha. You especially like this when you sit in your pink bouncy chair and we can sing and play face-to-face.
You've also recently made the amazing discovery of your fingers and hands and have been obsessively preoccupied with it for a week or so. You love to stare and suck on them, and I swear I saw you discreetly sneak your thumb in your mouth the other day. I was waiting for this moment for a while since we captured a photo of you, in utero, thumbsucking at just 20 weeks or so. I think thumbsucking is adorable, so don't worry, you go right on ahead and thumbsuck to your hearts content.
Our days together are busier than ever and filled with lots of fun activities. We go to our weekly mom and baby group, go for daily power walks in the gym's indoor track, meet friends for lunch, and of course, shopping! You enjoy car rides, love outdoor walks in your stroller, and calm to the musical ramblings of Journey.
You make this adorable little sound, which me and your father affectionately call your Velosa Rapture snort, when clearning your throat. You demand to be held upright where you can see the world, and only submit to lying down when you are sleeping. You have the most precious pouty face that you give your father and I before we give you your medicine (acid reflux!). Now when you see the dropper, you purse out your lower lip and give me the most doe-eyed look of sadness that has left me utterly incapable of giving you the medicine (I make your dad do it).
I can see you grow each day with all the amazing things you are learning and absorbing, and I can already see the wonderful, sweet, playful, and curious little girl in you that you have yet to become. For the short time you have been with us, my angel, you have already brought so many blessings, happiness, and joy. Every day is a wonder and I look forward to waking each morning to your beautiful, gummy smile. I love you my baby girl. So, so much.
Love,
Mommy
