O-S-U!

Everyone who knows me knows that I'm not a big fan of football.  But, when we can go to a game rather than watching it on t.v., that's another story.  Watching football on t.v. is so boring.  Going to game is a ritual, an adventure that you can partake in.  So naturally, we took Ava to her very first Beaver Football game this Saturday in Corvallis to watch Oregon State play the Louisville Cardinals.

It was a typical dreary Oregon day (raining, overcast, and cold) but we were all smiles in the 2 hour drive down.  We listened to old CD's, drank delicious warm Starbucks coffee, and made fun of all the pimped out fan cars driving down to the game.  And although we woke up our dear little angel two hours earlier than her usual wake up time, Ava was a very awake, very happy little girl all the way down.  Whew.  We knew it was gonna be a good day, despite the weather, since we had primo covered parking right next to the stadium.  Double Whew.

We got in bright and early, and though there was a slight drizzle, we walked around the main campus so Kent could show Ava where Daddy went to school.  And man oh man, could you feel the excitement and electric energy in the air as soon as you stepped out on campus.  It was buzzing with fans dressed in orange and black, excited new Freshman just starting the school year, and we were right smack dab in the middle of it all.  It was fabulous.  Ava must have felt that same electricity in the air and knew something was up since she was at full alert just quietly taking in everything.

And normally the rain seems to put a damper on people's moods, but yesterday, it added to the fun.  We splashed around town covered in our rain coats running from cover to cover, huddled together with friends under the canopy to tailgate and bbq before the game, and laughed at all the silly people decked out in garbage bags, orange rain ponchos, or all together just getting wet.  It was so much fun.  And believe me, we'll be back for more very soon.

Oh, and we were sure to dress our little beaver in full regalia for her very first game.  Besides the thousand compliments Ava got on her outfit, there were even a few brave ones (five, might I add) that actually wanted to take pictures with her.  Ha! I wish I had more pictures of the day, rather than a shrine of Ava (you'll see), but I was very busy partaking in the festivities and trying to keep my poor camera dry.  Cheers!
